Computational Tools for Probing Interactions in Multiple Linear Regression , Multilevel Modeling , and Latent Curve Analysis

چکیده
Simple slopes, regions of significance, and confidence bands are commonly used to evaluate interactions in multiple linear regression (MLR) models, and the use of these techniques has recently been extended to multilevel or hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) and latent curve analysis (LCA). However, conducting these tests andplotting the conditional relations is often a tedious and error-prone task. This article provides an overview of methods used to probe interaction effects and describes a unified collection offreely available online resources that researchers can use to obtain significance testsforsimple slopes, compute regions of significance, and obtain confidence bands for simple slopes across the range of the moderator in the MLR, HLM, and LCA contexts. Plotting capabilities are also provided.

Multilevel Models for Longitudinal Data
Repeated measures and repeated events data have a hierarchical structure which can be analysed using multilevel models. A growth curve model is an example of a multilevel random coefficients model, while a discrete-time event history model for recurrent events can be fitted as a multilevel logistic regression model. The paper describes extensions to the basic growth curve model to handle autoco...
متن کاملThe Analysis of Bayesian Probit Regression of Binary and Polychotomous Response Data
The goal of this study is to introduce a statistical method regarding the analysis of specific latent data for regression analysis of the discrete data and to build a relation between a probit regression model (related to the discrete response) and normal linear regression model (related to the latent data of continuous response). This method provides precise inferences on binary and multinomia...
متن کاملNetwork Location and Risk of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Transmission among Injecting Drug Users: Results of Multiple Membership Multilevel Modeling of Social Networks
Background: Despite the implementation of harm reduction program, some injecting drug users (IDU) continue to engage in high-risk behaviors. It seems that there are some social factors that contribute to risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission in IDUs. The aim of this study was to analysis the social network of IDUs and examines the effect of network location on HIV transmission...
متن کاملMixture Modeling: A Useful Analytical Approach for Drug Use Studies
The analytic methods often used in drug use studies, such as ANOVA, multiple regression, logistic regression, multilevel models, and structural equation modeling (SEM) including path analysis, factor analysis, and latent growth curve model, are variable-centered approaches. Those approaches assume that the study sample arises from a homogeneous population; and focus on relations among variables...

Introduction: Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is a very general statistical modeling technique, which is widely used in the behavioral sciences. It can be viewed as a combination of path analysis, regression and factor analysis. One of the prominent features of this method is the ability to compute direct, indirect and total effects, as well as latent variable modeling. Methods: This sy...
